We are heartened by the mutual aid and solidarity that our nonprofit organizations and neighbors have demonstrated in the face of multiple community crises over the past month.
We join the entire San Mateo County community in mourning the victims of the recent shooting in Half Moon Bay. The following organizations are providing critical support to
Half Moon Bay Support Fund (organized by The Asian Pacific Fund to increase access to AAPI resources and services support and to aid community nonprofits to provide in-language and culturally appropriate services for the survivors and families who are affected by this tragedy)
In addition to the work of Thrive RISE, we had three TAG meetings this past week. The rainstorms inspired our Environment & Sustainability TAG: Rain, Rain, Drain Away. Our panel of experts discussed the flooding and green infrastructure initiatives -- both government-led and community-driven -- that will help mitigate the effects of similar events in the future.
We focused on connecting funding sources to our CBOs this month. The Arts & Culture TAG addressed Prop 28's billion dollars for arts education funding, while the Children & Education TAG focused on state funding for Community Schools and After School Programs.
