The big story right now is all the funds that will be flowing in to our County from the federal and state governments. What new programs will be funded? Which programs will get additional funding? How do we make sure that our nonprofits get support? These are the questions Thrive has begun to focus on as more information becomes available. For instance, last week's meeting of the Children & Education TAG focused on the new available funding sources and how after-school providers can access them.
The governor announced his May revision on Friday and youth advocates as well as homeless advocates are cheering! There will be many more details to come and we look forward to keeping you informed in the coming months.
I also urge you to encourage your communities to apply to be redistricting commissioners for the County (and for Redwood City and other jurisdictions as well). Let's make sure all community voices are heard! Please continue to check our redistricting webpage as we update it frequently.
In partnership,
Petra Silton, Director of Advocacy & Education
