With the recall results in, we know we will have stability until the next election. California has passed many bills in this last legislative session that will impact us locally, and the County has proposed their revised budget which they will be voting on at the next Board meeting, September 28. That is a great opportunity for public comment.
Redistricting is in full swing in the County, as well as cities, school districts, and the state. If you can't make it to a meeting you can submit map ideas or write a paragraph about your community of interest, or meet directly with a commissioner! Please reach out to us if you need assistance.
We are excited to be working with our Environment Community to create alignment on climate change and climate justice goals. Whether your focus is Environment & Sustainability or not, feel free to take this two question survey about your top concerns and join the conversation.
And we are thrilled to announce our inaugural Nonprofit Racial Justice Summit: No Going Back that we are hosting with Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) and Sacred Heart Community Service. Please join us in any one or all of our six sessions Mon, October 4 - Wed, October 6 to:
Renew our collective commitment to fight against systemic racism
Reflect on and learn how we can do better as organizations
Be inspired and move forward to co-create, centered by community, a racially just community
As always, please reach out to us with your concerns and campaigns.
In partnership,
Petra Silton, Director of Advocacy & Education
