Storm Impacts Survey for San Mateo County Nonprofits and Community-Based Organizations
Recent storms have resulted in flooding, mudslides, high winds, and power outages across San Mateo County. Initial damage assessments may not reflect neighborhood- or household-level storm impacts, because local damage data can be difficult to track and organize during the early phases of a disaster, particularly in underserved communities. Underreported damages can result in fewer recovery resources being allocated to a community.
Thrive RISE is asking nonprofits and community-based organizations to report storm impacts on their facilities and services, as well as impacts on the communities they serve. This survey will be shared with the County and cities to ensure they have a thorough understanding of household-level storm impacts and can target their own damage assessments to the hardest hit areas with the lowest capacity for recovery. This survey may also be shared with flood control agencies to gain a better understanding of evolving flood patterns.

Arts & Culture Thrive Action Group (TAG): One Billion Dollars for Arts Education - What Happens Next with Prop. 28 Funds?
Wed, January 25, 1:00 - 3:00 pm, In-Person, Location TBD
On Nov. 8, Californians overwhelmingly passed Proposition 28, bringing a windfall of arts education funding to schools. While arts education is mandated in grades 1-12, each district must decide how to fund and implement it. The result has been inconsistent arts programming that leaves many children, especially those in low-income areas, with little exposure or access to the arts and creative forms of expression. Many dedicated and experienced arts education nonprofits have emerged to address this issue.
Prop. 28 will provide about $1 billion each year in funding to California public schools using 80% of the money on teachers and aides, and the balance will be used for art supplies and materials. How will this affect our nonprofit arts education providers?
