Thrive Alliance and Choose Children 2022, a project of Silicon Valley Community Foundation, invite you to attend a forum for candidates for San Mateo County Board of Supervisors Districts 2 and 3 to discuss critical children’s issues and their plans to shape a county where children and families can thrive.
If you are concerned about the issues facing children, including affordable and high-quality child care and learning environments, the effects of COVID-19 on parents, teachers and learners, and the mental health of children and families, plan on attending this forum to learn where the candidates stand on these issues and their plans for addressing them.
The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors oversees county departments, programs, and property, with an annual budget of over $3 billion.
Thrive Wellness Wednesdays: Mental Health Awareness Month

Join Thrive and the County of San Mateo Employee Wellness Team as we dive into Mental Health Awareness Month in our virtual series: Thrive Wellness Wednesdays. These sessions are held on the second Wednesday of every other month and incorporate practices like self-massage, mindful art, movement exercises, meditation, and an exploration of ways that we can take care of ourselves for optimal health and well-being.
This month will feature a special speaker and a self-assessment practice in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. We hope you and your team will join us!

Housing Instability and Educational Outcomes of San Mateo County Youth
In partnership with the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and 22 San Mateo County school districts, the John W. Gardner Center for Youth and Their Communities conducted research to explore the ways in which local students experience housing instability, and how cross-sector strategies can better identify and serve these students. The report and research brief mark the first time that the scope and demographics of student homelessness and housing instability in San Mateo County, where the income gap is one of the starkest in the state, have been documented. Leadership Council San Mateo County: Leadership CORPS Program & Emerging Leaders Program

Leadership Council San Mateo County is now accepted applications for their Leadership CORPS Program and Emerging Leaders Program. These 10-month immersive experiences will empower experienced and emerging leaders from the business, nonprofit, and government sectors with the knowledge, skills, and relationships they need to advance and deepen their leadership and community impact. Both programs are framed around countywide issues and are led by influential leaders from SMC and beyond.
Note: The Leadership CORPS Program is for senior-level leaders and the Emerging Leaders Program is for rising leaders who have demonstrated leadership potential.

Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County: Affordable Homecoming

Join Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County as they celebrate the start of Affordable Housing Month with the most ambitious social justice advocates in San Mateo County. At this event, they will connect active and new affordable housing supporters and affordable housing residents to build their movement forward over drinks, food, and conversation.
Guests will also have the opportunity to tour one of Bridge Housing’s affordable homes (the tour is limited in capacity, on a first-come, first-served basis).
Note: This event is limited in capacity (60 participants).
