Thrive RISE September Meeting

Wed, September 27, 10:00 - 11:30 am

 

Join the countywide coalition of Community Organizations Active in Disasters (COAD), Thrive RISE for our September Meeting, where we will receive a demo of a platform to improve access to health and social services in all phases of disaster. 
 
Unite Us will provide a demo of their virtual tool that connects people to health and social services and streamlines case referral between service providers. Through Unite Us’ national network and software, community-based organizations, government agencies, health plans, and healthcare providers are all connected to better collaborate and meet the needs of the individuals in their communities.
 
The Unite Us tool is free for community-based organizations to use. Join a growing list of 50+ San Mateo County service providers currently using the platform.
 
All organizations are welcome at this meeting, regardless of sector or experience in responding to community emergencies. Registration is not required for these recurring meetings. Please save this link as a recurring event on your calendar for the last Wednesday of the month.

Redwood City: 2023 Language Needs Survey

Survey Deadline: Sat, September 30

 

Redwood City is asking members of the community to complete their 2023 Language Needs Survey. The purpose of this survey is to assist staff in developing a Language Access Policy. Their aim is to improve and broaden access to various programs and resources available for our diverse community. Gaining insight directly from the community is crucial to their efforts to understand language needs in Redwood City. The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese (simplified). 

 

Note: If you need help completing this survey, you can come to City Hall, the Redwood City Community Centers, or any of the Redwood City Public Libraries, or call 650-780-7000.

Health Officer Directs Health Care Personnel to Wear Masks during Respiratory Virus Season

San Mateo County Health Officer Dr. Kismet Baldwin-Santana has issued a local health order requiring staff in patient care areas of healthcare facilities to wear face masks. Effective at 12:01 am on Nov. 1, 2023, the order applies to paid and unpaid facility personnel and other professionals and does not apply to patients, visitors, or individuals with medical or mental health conditions or a disability that prevents wearing a mask. New Director for County’s Effort to Improve Literacy Among Young Learners

The County of San Mateo has selected Katharine Sullivan as the Director of The Big Lift, an ambitious effort to prepare young learners for success. Sullivan comes to the County with more than 20 years of experience in improving educational opportunities and targeting resources to meet community needs. This knowledge will be key as The Big Lift aims to improve literacy with focused services. To learn more click here. 

Five Deaths, Few Answers: County Forms Domestic Violence Task Force

The County of San Mateo has formed a Domestic Violence Task Force following the homicides of five women this year at the hands of abusers. The task force brings together County officials, survivors and advocates, and representatives from law enforcement, public health, education, the judiciary, and others with an urgent mission: to save lives by identifying service gaps and strengthening response and support systems. Chief Elections Officer for San Mateo County, will provide a deep dive into the programs and infrastructure in place in our county ensuring a safe, accurate, and inclusive voting experience for everyone. Meeting attendees will come away understanding how votes are securely processed in the county and will be able to talk to family and friends with confidence about what San Mateo County has in place to ensure that every vote counts.
