Thrive Leadership Circle Luncheon: Engaging with San Mateo County’s New Equity Framework

Nonprofit EDs and CEOs are invited to hear Shireen Malekafzali (she/her), Chief Equity Officer at San Mateo County, present the equity framework and early equity efforts underway, and to give feedback on its alignment with your own equity frameworks. This is an opportunity to set the groundwork for nonprofit leaders to work together with the County on future efforts to advance equity.
Note: This event is exclusively for Executive Directors and Chief Executive Officers of nonprofits operating in San Mateo County.
Summer at the Beach: Murky Waters or Clean Coastlines?

Hands-On Redistricting Workshop: Mapping Tools, Communities of Interest, and Public Input

Help shape the maps! As redistricting gets underway in San Mateo County and local cities, please join us for an online workshop to learn more about how to share your communities' concerns and map priorities. We will address:
What a "community of interest" is and why communities of interest are so important in shaping district maps
How to use online tools that can help you understand your community and its characteristics, and tools where you can draw maps to use in your redistricting advocacy
How to develop community of interest testimony so that line-drawers draw maps that respect your community's voice
What are our local issues in San Mateo County and who is organizing
The County of San Mateo is now accepting applications for its Fall 2021 Civics 101 Academy. Civics 101 is a free, nine-week, program that provides an in-depth look at County programs, services and finances. Department heads will share information about their key programs, insights into how they operate, and answer your questions. Participants will gain a better understanding of the County structure, build relationships, and identify different ways in which they can engage with the County.

Silicon Valley Community Foundation is excited to announce their newly published LatinX Giving Guide. This Giving Guide is designed to highlight different Latinx-led nonprofit organizations that provide leadership, direct services, advocacy, and support for Latinx communities in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

California Citizens Redistricting Commission: Communities of Interest Input Meeting
Thurs, July 29, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The California Citizens Redistricting Commission welcomes your input at their upcoming Communities of Interest (COI) meeting. Your input is vital to the success of the Commission and they need your Communities of Interest information to respect the boundaries of your communities during the redistricting process. This meeting is primarily for Communities of Interest testimony and will include a general public comment session at the end of the meeting. Click here to view the meeting agenda.

Join Center for Excellence in Nonprofits for a series of 5 private interactive (virtual) coaching sessions with grant writing expert Dalya Massachi. Sessions will build on each other and are designed to help you tell your story in a way that will move funders to support your work. In these sessions you will:
Learn the basic elements of a grant proposal, the “do’s” and “don'ts” of writing and submitting a proposal, and how to follow up whether you get a “yes” or “no”
