Thrive Alliance and Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits: Nonprofit Racial Justice Summit
Wed, November 15, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, In-Person
Join us for the third annual Nonprofit Racial Justice Summit on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. This vibrant in-person gathering, proudly co-hosted by Thrive Alliance and Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN), brings together a diverse spectrum of changemakers including nonprofit leaders, staff, and board members, along with cross-sector partners such as government and philanthropy to champion racial justice and equity.
This year's Racial Justice Summit theme is Partnership & Collective Responsibility. We aim to unite local nonprofit and government partners and foster renewed commitment and collaborative efforts to enhance community outcomes, particularly for our most impacted communities. We'll take tangible steps toward forging a more racially just and equitable community with fellow nonprofit leaders and cross-sector allies. Together, we aspire to build momentum toward a more inclusive democracy with race and equity at the heart of all our actions.
We are thrilled to have Angela Glover Blackwell, Founder in Residence at PolicyLink, as our keynote speaker. Her long-standing advocacy for racial and economic equity, along with her expertise in leveraging public policy for positive change, promises to inspire and ignite meaningful conversations.

Thurs, November 30, 2:30 - 4:00 pm, Virtual
Thrive's next E&S TAG meeting will feature a training for a new Federal Funding Navigator which is located on the HUD Build for the Future Page; Funding Navigator - HUD Exchange. The Funding Navigator helps nonprofits, local governments, affordable housing providers, private citizens, tribes and companies learn about Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) programs and see where they can apply for billions of dollars in federal funding and tax credits in these areas: Energy Efficiency and Renewables, Resiliency, Transportation, Environmental Justice, Workforce Development, Broadband, Utility Scale Energy, Lead and Healthy Housing, Brownfields and Waste Management.
"As a part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda potentially eligible entities will be able to sort funding resources based on audience, activity, funding type, location, and other items. The Funding Navigator helps participants maximize the utilization of IRA and BIL resources for carbon reduction and climate resilience efforts," (HUD press release, September 21, 2023). Although this tool was developed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, it features programs across all federal agencies.
The training will also cover the IRA’s new “Direct Pay” Provision (Direct Pay | Clean Energy | The White House) that makes clean energy tax credits available to nonprofits and local governments and review the IRA’s main programs like the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, Environmental Justice Programs, Conservation Programs, and Clean Energy Rebates.
The training will be conducted by Jennifer Gottlieb, on behalf of Alexis Pelosi, the HUD Secretary’s Climate Advisor.
