Thrive invites you to a virtual meet & greet with RubieMacaraeg, the Coordinator of Expanded Learning and Community Partnerships with the San Mateo County Office of Education. Learn about this new role and share who you are and your organization’s plans. Rubie will also update us on ELO-P and Community Schools Partnership state grants, and we will discuss partnering with the County moving forward, as well as hear an update on ARPA funding from the County.
Voter Education and Outreach Advisory Committee (VEOAC) Meeting

VEOAC will be featuring short presentations by Bay Area leaders in voter outreach. LEAD Filipino, a Filipino American organization that focuses on civic participation, grassroots leadership, and community action, will be presenting its voter outreach advocacy. We will also have Elections Office updates and share outreach plans.
Co-chaired by San Francisco Peninsula People Power, the County Elections Office, and Thrive Alliance.

Environment & Sustainability TAG: Safer Streets & Public Transit Fleets

We invite you to join Thrive and the County of San Mateo Employee Wellness Team for another session in our virtual series: Wellness Wednesdays. These sessions are held on the second Wednesday of every other month. From self-massage to mindful art, to movement exercises to meditation, we’ll continue to explore a variety of ways that we can take care of ourselves for optimal health and well-being. Collaborative and engaging activities will help participants learn various techniques and healthy habits that can be immediately applied to daily life at and outside of work.
Our speakers throughout the series will include County Wellness Team members, behavioral health specialists, massage therapists, and art facilitators. We hope you and your team will join us.

County of San Mateo: Lift for Most Indoor Mask Mandates on February 16
Statewide requirement, including in San Mateo County, for masking for fully vaccinated residents in indoor settings ends Wed, February 16. Indoor masking is still required by the State for everyone, regardless of vaccination status, in public transportation; health care settings; congregate settings like correctional facilities and homeless shelters; long term care facilities; and in K-12 schools and childcare settings. It is recommended to continue indoor masking when the risk may be high. For more information on the Mask Mandates click here.

SMC Strong: Summer 2022 Enrichment Grant Program
Deadline: Fri, February 25
On Tues, February 8, San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved $3.3 million to create the Summer 2022 Enrichment Program. This grant program is for providers that commit to using grant funds to:
Expand access to summer enrichment programs for low-income and vulnerable students;
Support the social-emotional wellbeing of students to mitigate the setbacks and hardships associated with COVID-19; and
Provide opportunities for students to reinspire and propel learning to counterbalance learning loss attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic and distance learning.
Awarded grant amounts may vary and will be scaled to reflect program capacity and ability to expand program access to targeted students. For more information and to apply click here.
Silicon Valley Community Foundation: Apply for a SVCF Community Action Grant
Deadline: Fri, March 11
Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) is accepting nonprofit applications for their Neighborhoods and Faith Community Action Grants. Through this fund, SVCF will primarily support faith-based leaders and nonprofit organizations working to build community, strengthen interfaith and race relations, invest in leadership within the community, increase community participation in civic life and provide services to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) residents. Priority will be given to BIPOC-led and allied organizations and those with annual budgets under $1 million. Organizations can apply for general operating support or program support grants.

Tutor Tips + Tutor Training, Mon, February 15, 7:45 - 8:30 pm: This session will consists of an interactive training with strategies for how to teach math to students from K to 8th grade, tips to help your student become a better reader and writer, and more. There will also be a chance to ask questions following the meeting.
San Mateo County Citizens’ Climate Lobby: Monthly Climate Change Action Presentation

Join San Mateo County Citizens’ Climate Lobby and Elaine Salinger for a Zoom presentations about climate change action. During this presentation, they will compare climate change solutions using a website called En-ROADS, a climate change simulation website created by MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative. They will also be discussing why solutions are more or less effective and shares easy actions that all of us can do to help.
Jewish Coalition for Literacy: New Tutor Training Session

Can You Read This? That means you can help a child who can’t. In just one hour a week you can share your love of reading and improve a child’s literacy skills. The ability to read fluently is essential for success in life; however, nearly three out of four children who complete third grade in California public schools struggle to read at grade level. They need your help to lay the foundation for lifelong learning. Join Jewish Coalition for Literacy for a free online tutor-training workshop and help make a difference in a child’s life.
Sanchez Art Center: The Tin Men - Robert Haemmerling & Dave Yoas

Join Sanchez Art Center for three new exhibits. The work of sculpture and assemblage artists Robert Haemmerling and Dave Yoas will be presented in the Main Gallery in a duo show titled The Tin Men, curated by Jerry Ross Barrish. The East Gallery show, Arbitrary and Capricious, will share works by Tangerine Arts, a group of women artists who meet for camaraderie, and to share resources, ideas and artwork. In the West Gallery the Art Guild of Pacifica will present a group show titled Little Things.
San Mateo County Youth Commission: 2022 Health & Wellness Conference
