With so many new funding opportunities for Extended Learning, the education community has a number of questions: what is coming, how does one access this funding, what are the gaps, and where are opportunities for collaboration?
Join us for an informational session, conversation, and brief Q & A around funding. The County will update us on ARPA funding, and Karin K. Huber-Levy (she/her/hers), Commissioner, San Mateo County Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention Commission will present an overview of their research on specifics of after-school programs in the County and potential funding, with an emphasis on underserved populations.
Thrive Swiftly: Managing Nonprofits Through the New Surge

We are facing the biggest surge in COVID-19 cases yet, and there are many questions about how to handle this in the nonprofit workplace. Nonprofit leaders face confusion regarding ever-changing health guidelines, difficulty with consistent access to PPP and testing, and challenges with service delivery. Come to a brief informational session, Q & A and some peer sharing on strategies for how to manage through this latest COVID-19 surge in the nonprofit workplace.
We will be joined by Dr. Curtis Chan, SMC Deputy Health Officer, who will provide updates on the current Omicron surge, Erin Montgomery, Chief Operating Officer at AbilityPath, and Gregory Gonzalez, Operations Manager at AbilityPath, who will talk about their plans, processes and learnings on how to manage during this new surge.

Join Leadership Council San Mateo County for a two-part virtual training on disrupting bias. This training is designed to strengthen your ability to build, maintain and sustain an inclusive workplace by understanding personal bias and learning how to recognize bias around you. Feel empowered to disrupt microaggressions in action and learn straightforward tools to manage difficult conversations.

Applications are being accepted for the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program. This program provides financial assistance for unpaid rent to eligible renters and landlords who have been impacted by COVID-19.

4Rs Grants Program - Upcoming Call for Applications
Application Deadline: Mon, March 21
The County of San Mateo Office of Sustainability (OOS) is excited to announce the upcoming opening of the next cycle of the 4Rs Grants Program. The 4Rs Grants Program’s objective is to divert waste from being sent to the landfill by financially supporting eligible entities create and implement projects in San Mateo County that focus on the 4Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot.
The program offers two tiers of funding: (1) Mini Grant ($2,000 to $5,000) and (2) Mega Grant (up to $25,000). Eligible entities include government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and public/nonprofit educational institutions (e.g., schools, school/college districts, state university systems, etc.).

Storytellers Series: Cassandra Joubert on Raising a Child with Bipolar Disorder

Join Mental Health Association of San Mateo County virtually for a three-part speaker series about serious mental illness; what it is, how it is treated, what its’ effect is on families and what could or should be different.
During this first session in the series, Angie Coiro will be speaking with Dr. Cassandra Joubert, author of Losing Control: Loving a Black Child with Bipolar Disorder.
