If you have services or information that you would like to share at our next Thrive Resource Room meeting, please email Keirstan. These sessions occur on a monthly basis. We encourage you to send staff members and volunteers (especially new ones!) to one of our monthly sessions to ensure that they are taking advantage of Thrive's resources and opportunities.
Arts & Culture Thrive Action Group: Reconnecting the Arts
Tues, July 12, 12:00 - 2:00 pm
Arts & Culture organizations have had a rough few years. To continue offering essential programs and services during a pandemic, many pivoted and reinvented themselves. Now they are faced with re-emerging. Thrive and the San Mateo Office of Arts & Culture invite you to reconnect with us, and each other, over lunch and exchange ideas and stories. This is an opportunity to share how you are doing, what you need, what is and isn’t working, and to reconnect with each other. How can we help you in promoting and supporting arts and culture organizations across the County? Are you participating in OAC’s Celebration of Arts and Culture in August? We look forward to getting together with you in person!
Voter Education and Outreach Advisory Committee (VEOAC) Meeting
Wed, July 13, 9:30 - 11:00 am
New speaker added! Dr. Mindy Romero, CID
Special guest Dr. Mindy Romero, founder and director of the Center for Inclusive Democracy (CID) at USC, will provide an analysis of voter turnout. Let's hear your reflections on this election. What did you learn? Who were your partners and/or supporters? How did you succeed? How do your efforts compare to the rate of voting in San Mateo County? What learnings will you bring to the November election?
With support from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, we will be hosting this event in Redwood City at the CZI Community Space. Location details will be sent to registered attendees. A-Zoom option will be available for those who would like to join virtually.
The practice of gratitude has been scientifically proven to provide tremendous benefits. Join Thrive and the County of San Mateo Employee Wellness Team as we explore how to cultivate an "attitude of gratitude" in our virtual series: Thrive Wellness Wednesdays. This month will feature exercises to help us develop our gratitude muscles, and learn how to incorporate a little more appreciation into our daily lives.
These sessions are held on the second Wednesday of every other month and incorporate practices like self-massage, mindful art, movement exercises meditation, and an exploration of ways that we can take care of ourselves for optimal health and well-being. If you are looking to include additional wellness practices and learn about ways to take care of yourself both within and outside of the workplace, we hope you and your team will join us!
Note: These sessions are not a replacement for professional guidance or counseling.
