Environment & Sustainability Thrive Action Group (TAG): Post-Climate Summit - From Collective Commitment to Action
Tues, November 15, 2:00 - 3:30 pm, In-Person
There was a fantastic turnout at the first annual Climate Summit for San Mateo County, which brought forth commitments to equitable climate adaptation from community organizations, government, funders, and community members. This is the right moment to turn stated commitments into action.
Thrive will use the foundation of the collective commitments made at the Summit and develop actionable strategies for realizing them. Our strategy building will focus on these topics:
Education
Relationships and Power Dynamics
Funding and Resources
Policy
Government Structure and Practices
Join us in translating collective commitments into action!
We have gone through and continue to go through periods of loss, grief, fear, and feeling overwhelmed. Join Thrive and the County of San Mateo Employee Wellness Team for a Thrive Wellness Wednesdays session and learn techniques to destress and build resilience so that we can better connect with ourselves and others.
From self-care action plans and mindful eating, to reset activities and a happy dance, we’ll explore a variety of ways that we can take care of ourselves for optimal health and well-being. Collaborative and engaging activities will help participants learn various techniques and healthy habits that can be immediately applied to daily life at and outside of work.
Note: These sessions are not a replacement for professional guidance or counseling.
*Zoom information will be sent to registered attendees.
This year, Thrive Alliance and Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) are joining resources to assess nonprofit needs and priorities on a regional basis. Our plan is to use your input from the 2023 Regional Nonprofit Priorities Survey to set each of our organizations' calendar year priorities.
Additionally, we will be publishing a joint report about the current nonprofit landscape across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. The report will be grounded in tax data and enhanced by your survey data. That's why we need to hear from a wide swath of Silicon Valley nonprofit staff, executives, and board members!
You are the experts in what nonprofits need as we support the creation of thriving and equitable communities. Please pass this survey on to your nonprofit colleagues and friends.
Note: The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Santa Clara County-based and San Mateo County-based nonprofit respondents who complete this survey by November 30, 2022, will receive a $5 Target Gift Card (must provide name, organization, and email to redeem).
Racial Justice Project Manager Request For Proposals
Thrive Alliance and Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) are on intentional journeys to build the values of racial equity, diversity, and inclusion into our agencies’ operations, shape how our organizations can be a champion for race equity, diversity, and inclusion as values for the nonprofit sector, and support CBOs on their own racial equity journeys. We intend to be a hub for racial equity, diversity, and inclusion (REDI) education, support, and practice, to support the nonprofit ecosystem in Silicon Valley.
Thrive Alliance and Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits (SVCN) are seeking a part-time Project Manager (IC) to coordinate our joint Racial Justice curriculum and resource hub. This is a temporary independent contractor role with a potential timeline between one year and 18 months.
Looking for office space or other nonprofits interested in sharing a location? Contact Thrive and we will help to facilitate a connection.
