Family Justice Center Survey

In an effort to establish a Family Justice Center (FJC) in San Mateo County, Supervisor Corzo, County Executive Callagy, DA Wagstaffe, and the Domestic Violence Council (DVC) have joined forces to develop a Strategic Plan. The County's Executive Office has contracted with the Family Justice Center Alliance to conduct an in-person study tour on July 11th and 12th to understand the available services for survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, and trafficking in the county. All nonprofits providing services related to domestic violence, child abuse, and/or trafficking are encouraged to participate. Additionally, any nonprofits that may encounter domestic violence, child abuse, and/or trafficking situations, even if it is not their primary mission, are also included. The goal is to create a draft Strategic Plan for the FJC's development, which will be presented to the County and its partners in October.

Board of Supervisors Unanimously Approves $30 Livable Wage for County Employees

The Board of Supervisors has approved a resolution to raise the base wage for regular County employees to $30 an hour, aiming to establish a "livable wage" that considers various benefits received by County workers. This move will immediately increase the pay for eight workers in two classifications and also raise the wages for 71 employees in other classifications whose current salary steps are below $30. The decision was made following a task force's assessment of the cost of living, with the aim of ensuring that County workers can afford to live in the area.
