Building Momentum for Resilience Hubs Across the Bay Area

Join Thrive Alliance and Collective Resilience for a three-part workshop series to understand the landscape of resilience hubs in the Bay Area, learn the concepts and tools needed to develop resilience hubs, and develop partnerships with nonprofits, governments, and funders. We will lay the groundwork to develop a robust network of resilience hubs across the Bay Area for communities that need them most.
The workshops will be interactive, and feature guest speakers with expertise in developing resilience hubs, with opportunities for networking and peer-to-peer learning. The series is free for community members and small organizations, with a suggested fee for large organizations, businesses, and government agencies. These fees go toward speaker stipends and organizer costs, with any remaining funds to be put toward a fund for resilience hub development. Registration signs you up for all three sessions.

Healthy Homes for All: Expanding Access to Electrification Programs for Renters in San Mateo County is a two-part series sponsored by Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) that explores the vital role of electrification in promoting home health and sustainability in San Mateo County communities. We explore the unique barriers that renters face to electrify their homes, highlighting the challenges of developing and implementing electrification programs that serve both renters and homeowners. We will also identify best practices for fostering landlord-tenant collaboration for a greener, healthier future. Join us for part two of this series.
Event 2: Healthy Homes for All: Landlords & Tenants Working Towards Electrification
Renters face significant barriers to accessing electrification programs in the Bay Area due to complex qualification criteria and a variety of other factors. The barriers to participating in home electrification programs vary for single-family and multifamily dwellings. In this session, we look to models both in and outside of the Bay Area to understand the design of existing home improvement programs that serve single-family and multifamily home renters. Sean Armstrong, co-founder and Managing Principal of Redwood Energy, will present from the diverse knowledge he has accumulated throughout his extensive experience in multifamily electrification. We will present best practices for collaboration between landlords and tenants in electrification efforts, as well as barriers to their involvement in home electrification programs.
Thrive RISE May Meeting: Community Strategies for High Heat Risk Reduction

Affordable Power for All: A Guide to Enrolling Clients in Energy Discount Programs

Help clients reduce their energy bills! Learn about energy discounts and assistance programs, and how your organization can help clients access these services.
Join Thrive Alliance, Peninsula Clean Energy, and El Concilio of San Mateo County for an overview of these energy programs, basic eligibility requirements, and opportunities for further training. This workshop is designed for representatives of social services or community-based organizations serving low-income residents, and all are welcome to attend.
This session will explore how cultural humility is crucial for board governance in the longevity of a nonprofit's success by exploring the difference between cultural competency and cultural humility and sharing how nonprofit boards can navigate cultural dynamics through empathy. We will also discuss cultural arrogance, centering voices, representation -- do we have representation just for representation's sake? -- and application for cultural humility for long-term success.
Objectives
Clarify the distinction between cultural competency and cultural humility.
Identify whose voices are being centered and whose voices may be excluded in board discussions and decision-making.
Encourage participants to apply cultural humility principles within their board roles for more impactful and sustainable governance.

Join Catalyze SV for the 4th annual ComforTable Dinner, hosted by Catalyze SV in partnership with Valley Verde. This year, the dinner will be held outdoors at Valley Verde’s urban farm in Midtown San José. The meal will feature ingredients grown by Valley Verde and will be prepared by Catalyze SV’s Executive Director, Alex Shoor, showcasing Mexican cuisine.
