The event is sponsored by the Sand Hill Foundation in partnership with Thrive Alliance, PAL, the Coalition for Safe Schools and Communities at the San Mateo County Office of Education, and Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University.

Join us for a post-election debrief, where we’ll reflect on the recent election results and identify key takeaways. We’ll review voter turnout data, especially in low-turnout precincts, and hear from community organizations about the best strategies for voter engagement. This will also be an opportunity to discuss potential focus areas and tactics to boost civic participation in upcoming elections. We encourage everyone to attend and contribute to the conversation!

Please participate in an important survey designed to gather insights that will strengthen maternal and child health community-based organizations (MCH CBOs). This survey, conducted by Karna, LLC and funded by the CDC, aims to provide tailored capacity-building support to these organizations. Your input is vital for understanding the challenges faced by MCH CBOs, and it will take approximately 6 minutes to complete. The deadline for participation is November 29, and all responses will remain confidential.

Pro Bono Consulting Opportunities for 501(c)3 Organizations: Apply Now
Harvard Business School Community Partners is inviting 501(c)3 organizations to apply for pro bono consulting support from HBS alumni. They offer consulting projects that last 3-4 months, where customized teams address strategic challenges such as planning, marketing, and financial assessments. Applications for consulting support are due by November 11th, 2024, for projects starting in Spring 2025. In addition, they provide 90-minute brainstorming sessions, where alumni volunteers help organizations tackle specific dilemmas such as identifying target audiences and strengthening board development. These focused meetings are designed to deliver quick and impactful advice during lunchtime.
The Mental Health Services Act: A Journey of Transformation and Lives Impacted
San Mateo County Health’s Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) has transformed its approach to mental health and substance use treatment over the past two decades, significantly supported by the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), which was approved by California voters in 2004. This act has facilitated $476 million in funding for various programs aimed at reducing untreated mental illness, combating stigma, and expanding access to services, prioritizing community support, prevention, and innovation. Notable initiatives include mobile resource centers for farmworkers and programs for youth at the Kapwa Kultural Center, with a focus on health equity and holistic care. With the recent passage of Proposition 1 to amend the MHSA to the Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA), BHRS is committed to further enhancing its support for vulnerable populations in the county.
