The San Mateo County Elections Division will summarize the results of the March primary election and identify low-turnout precincts. Community organizations that received funding for voter outreach will discuss which strategies proved to be the most effective and best practices in the future. We will discuss what activities or communities to focus on over the spring and summer to increase voter participation in the November elections! Everyone is welcome.

Building Momentum for Resilience Hubs Across the Bay Area

Join Thrive Alliance and Collective Resilience for a three-part workshop series to understand the landscape of resilience hubs in the Bay Area, learn the concepts and tools needed to develop resilience hubs, and develop partnerships with nonprofits, governments, and funders. We will lay the groundwork to develop a robust network of resilience hubs across the Bay Area for communities that need them most.
The workshops will be interactive, and feature guest speakers with expertise in developing resilience hubs, with opportunities for networking and peer-to-peer learning. The series is free for community members and small organizations, with a suggested fee for large organizations, businesses, and government agencies. These fees go toward speaker stipends and organizer costs, with any remaining funds to be put toward a fund for resilience hub development. Registration signs you up for all three sessions.

Matthew Perry Foundation launches Community Impact Grants Program
The Matthew Perry Foundation has launched the Community Impact Grants Program, which aims to support and empower grassroots organizations that work to combat addiction in local communities. The grants range from $5,000 to $10,000 and are designed as unrestricted funds, allowing recipients to use them for a wide array of needs.

Lineage & Legacy/Kingdom Love: Youth Mental Health First Aid

Become a Mental Health First Aider! First Aiders will complete a 2 hour self-paced online course, prior to participating in a 6.5 hour instructor led, skill based training in person.
MHFA is a skill-based training program which helps you understand mental health and substance use challenges. As a First-Aider, you will identify signs of mental health and substance use challenges in people, and reach out to provide initial first-aid support. The Mental Health First Aid ALGEE Action Plan gives you the proper tools to support, encourage and connect people to the appropriate resources and treatments

Art Bias & San Mateo County Office of Arts & Culture: Creative Echoes: Art as a Path Through Grief

Join Art Bias and the San Mateo County Office of Arts & Culture for a free, hands-on workshop. In this workshop, multi-disciplinary artists will guide participants through the process of working through personal grief with the help of creativity. Through movement, visual art, sound, music, and theater/performance, participants will explore paths through grief. No artistic background is necessary to participate.
Join Quinteto Latino for an opera that chronicles the life and work of Olga Talamante, a legendary Chicanx leader and LGBTQ+ activist. The opera explores her journey from working the garlic fields as a child in Gilroy, California, to her decades of activism in the US, Mexico, and Argentina, where she became a political prisoner. Ultimately, Olga frees herself from the psychological hold of her captors and releases her heart from 40 years of suppressing the memories of violence perpetrated against her. She finally finds peace and in the process of healing, the love of her life, Vola.
